About

Garden2013-16Welcome to the Community Garden at George Fox University! The idea for a garden hatched in 2007 with a group of students inspired by Wendell Berry, as well as professors who helped them think about theology, philosophy, faith, activism and connection with creation. It’s a place where we can slow down, watch the abundance of God grow out of the dirt, fellowship around food and learn how to nurture this beautiful planet that is under our care. The Community Garden is part of the Creation Care Program at George Fox University.

In the 2014 growing season, we’re launching into a new phase in the life of our garden: we’re intentionally inviting the Newberg community to join us in learning how to grow food and receiving the fresh bounty of our labors. Our blog serves as a record of our work that we hope will make it easier for you to replicate this kind of a project at your own school, church, nonprofit or community center. Please contact us if you would like more information or want to participate.
