Partnering for Seedlings

Posted on Updated on

NHS greenhouse The gardening season is beginning and we are making good progress! Last week, three social work interns, my son and I went to Newberg High School and discussed our project with a teacher in their excellent horticulture program. He was very supportive and is willing to give us seedlings they would otherwise throw out, or sell them to us cheaply when they’re old enough to put in the ground. We received a long list of the plants they are currently growing, which includes many of the plants we’re interested in. We’re excited about and grateful for this new community partnership!

Next we will measure the garden and the beds available, decide on specific crops we want to grow and where to put them, how many we’ll need from NHS, and what other seeds we need to purchase. We also had our first work day on Saturday and it went really well, but I’m going to save that for another post.
